Matters Arising From The Last Meeting
Greenhill Rise –
It was reported that two of the poles had been painted and that weed killer had been sprayed on the weeds but the workers had not been back to finish off what they had started. Apparently this could be a one off project! Well the meeting was not in favour of this as these drying areas have to be fit for the purpose and safe to use.
Jean Paton – The stairwell at Farmstead Road Flats was cleaned once in the last two months but has not been done since we will keep the meeting informed.
The Chinese Takeaway – Nothing appears to have been done and the smell is still the same since the new owners took the shop over. With summer approaching we may have to write to them or ask environmental health to look into the matter.
Ian Hopewell – The trees on Chesil Walk – A6003 have not been done – Now that the trees are in leaf – nothing can be done – so yet again we have to wait until October November time.
The new Dispersal Order on Wedmore is now in effect until September but there are no signs of any improvement around the shop area but Mick Ennis reports that it has been a bit quieter in his area although Kids are still getting hold of drink from the shops . Someone has been caught flashing ( a woman ) Men have been urinating in the street – the police move the youths on but they return as soon as the Police go away.
The Drying areas on Wedmore – One has been done and the other is still waiting after 6 weeks.
The flat has been let as far as we are aware and the new tenants should move in soon.
The House on Canford Green again the improvements have been done but no tenants as yet. There is a ground floor flat also vacant on
Glastonbury Road. No 5 Westbury is vacant as are No 14, 43(or 47)
Wedmore Court. No 1 Rufford walk has been Let.
Defensive Space – There is still one place with elderly occupants on
Wedmore Court yet to be done – This lady has waited patiently – Why is she still without a fence.
Youth Club – Neighbourhood Funding will be looked at with Brenda in the coming weeks,
Carol Copeland to be invited to come to our next meeting to find out if she has any input .
NEIGHBOURHOOD MANAGEMENT
CONTACT THE TEAM – ON 01536 464625 or 464603 (
9am – 5pm)
The Raffle raised £21
Please notify this meeting of any property that is council owned that is left vacant and if possible how long.
The skips will be deployed on the 28th and the litter pick will be on that date as well – volunteers will be used to pick up litter on the A6003 behind 4 Ways Garage – It will be publicised and the ET will be there for photos. It was agreed that we should meet at the garage at
10am. All welcome to join in – it is anticipated that it will take up no longer than about an hour so if you could spare half an hour to help it would be appreciated. Cath McGloan that helps to do the Neighbourhood Newsletter wants pictures too.
Jane Hornby – Contact 01536 464616
If you require large items taken away please contact the above number and Jane will endeavour to get them picked up.
CAR PARKING
There are still places that are desperate for additional parking –
Selsy Road, Falmer Walk, Wimbourne Walk/Chesil Walk Area,
Blandford Court,
York Road,
Birling Place and Weston Walk. 10 Places have been identified by the council and we are hopeful that some of those 10 are on the Beanfield Estate. We need to keep mentioning these gridlocked areas to get them in the public domain and keep the momentum going on this strategy. Cllr Scott reported that the projects have gone out to contract.
AOB
We need more litter bins around our area Farmstead Road – Rufford Walk – Glastonbury near the park , if anybody knows of a place that requires a bin let us know – We do suggest that a bin should be at every bus stop.
Garage – The meeting was informed that M&S are taking over the shop part of the BP @ Fourways and that this will take place over the next few weeks.
We are still not having much luck with the walkabout reported repairs – There is racist graffiti at
Shoreham Court that should have been removed within 24 hours of reporting but it hasn’t been done. After the meeting some of us went to Shoreham and most of the graffiti had been removed.
Recycling – Bungalows Greenhill Rise – There are too many for the residents to cope with can something be done? Half sized bins would be ideal we will ask Ian Hopewell & Jane Hornby for their input.
Keir to be invited again to one of our meetings to discuss problems with recycling + Ian Hopewell too. You can contact them on 464242 if you have any problems.
Lighting on the Flats – Please can the lighting which is paid for by the tenants please be checked by the council as we are aware of some that have not worked for 7 years – Weymouth Close being one of them – If tenants are paying for something surely it should be a priority to ensure that 1. It works & 2. If it concerns cleaning that the cleaning is actually carried out.
Please report any such discrepancies to this meeting and we will endeavour to get it looked at.
Cllr Bob Scott : Regeneration
The swimming pool has been started – the ground has been cleared and we have lost a few trees but new ones will be planted when the landscaping of the area is done. Phase One is nearing completion (should be completed October 2007) and Phase Two has been brought forward by one whole year by Land Securities and there are two shops left to let – we have been told that Debenhams and M&S want to locate shops here.
You can obtain information @ the Land Securities Office.
Rail Link & Station – we should know by August 2007 whether we will have the government backing for a Rail Link and station – We are all keeping our fingers crossed.
The
Boating
Lake – should be completed by our next meeting – the fish and Ducks and Swans will be returned when the silt has settled after the refurb.
Litter Pick & Skips
The litter pick was very successful as was the skip exercise apart from the one on Steyning as you will have seen in the ET.
We removed 15 bags of rubbish from the A6003 and about 10 tons of unwanted rubbish in the skips. Special thanks to all concerned especially Nelson & Myra Pengelly – Bob Scott – Mina Peddie’s Son, The Council, Oakley Skip Hire & the ET for the publicity & FORTAC for the Photocopying. If I have missed anyone out please be aware that Nelson will update the meeting.
A Council Surgery will be held @ the Beanfield Community Centre by our two new Borough Councillors Ann Brown & Mary Butcher @
7.00pm prior to our monthly meeting – CC John McGhee will also be present.
We have to send a special thank you for the attendance of May Barclay & Trish Dewer for attending our meeting with Brenda Easton to discuss funding for youth activities in our area.
