Corby Furniture Project

Corby Furniture Project – Charity No. 1064649/0

The Corby Furniture Turnaround Project exists to develop and promote the social welfare and health of people in the local area.  We work hard to protect and support our environment by collecting donated furniture, and passing it on to those in need.  This helps families on low income to avoid debt, through the availability of quality second hand furniture at an affordable price.  This also helps to reduce both fly tipping and the volume of items ending up in landfill sites. “We believe that reuse is more beneficial to the environment than recycling as it guarantees extending the useful life of an item.”

We pride ourselves on providing a reliable service to the community. During the last 11 years we have continued to increase the amount of household items handled annually, in the last 12 months we have delivered over 100 tonnes of essential items to people’s homes.  This equates to 20 households benefiting per week, with 71% of our clients living in the most socially deprived areas in the Corby Borough.

The Project depends on the help of volunteers for its success.  It is their commitment, which enables us to provide a reliable service throughout the year.  In return for their help we are able to provide work based skills and training opportunities, leading to qualifications and employment. It is encouraging to know that 54 volunteers have gone on to full time employment in warehousing and other related jobs since 1998... We feel the skills learned at the Turnaround have played a major part in helping them to achieve success.

We continue to grow and expand the services offered, which now includes the testing and supply of electrical goods, and starter packs of bedding, curtains, kitchen equipment and soft furnishings.  We also supply cots, prams, high chairs and other related items.
New partnerships have been established, and work placements are now offered to trainees with learning difficulties/disabilities.

We are a registered charity and depend upon income from grant funding and the sale of furniture to maintain the high standards expected of us. We believe we offer value for money and can be relied upon to provide a professional confidential and friendly service at all times.
